Top London Hotel chooses Tony Team for big waste management initiative
Named in Tatler Magazine as ’The most Glamorous Hotel in the World’, The Soho Hotel is one of the latest top London hotels to call on the expertise of Tony Team in order to be at the forefront of Environmental, Sustainable & Socially Responsible Performance.
With a remit to work towards ‘zero waste to landfill’, the hotel installed a TT75 Baler for the card & paper, a TT1100e Bin Compactor for the general waste & mixed recycling & a Waste20 Food Waste Digester to eliminate all food waste. By setting up clear systems within the hotel all the staff have worked closely together to ensure that general waste amounts to less than 10%. Notwithstanding the improvements to their local environment, the additional benefits of reducing vehicle visits to the hotel has reduced their carbon footprint.
According to Jessica Black, Firmdale Hotels Purchasing Manager, “the improvements made at the Soho have made it a model of efficient waste management whilst at the same time reducing our costs. All our efforts have been rewarded with a ‘Highly Commended’ at The Considerate Hoteliers Green Awards”.
After investing in further projects within the group, Firmdale Hotels’ Purchasing Manager chose to roll out Tony Team balers, compactors, glass crushers & waste food digesters at the flagship new Hotel, The Ham Yard, opening on 1st June.
